Average price of gas, diesel falls to lowest level since May

The Register-Guard -- The average price of a gallon of gasoline fell for the fourth week in a row in Eugene-Springfield, to $4.08 per gallon for regular, according to AAA. That’s down 8 cents from last week and only slightly higher than the statewide average of $4.06. The national average is down to $3.87.

Diesel prices also have fallen, to an average of $4.73 a gallon in Oregon, down 7 cents from last week. Both diesel and gasoline prices are at their lowest level since late May.

If the price of crude oil stays below $125 per barrel, prices could fall even further, according to AAA Oregon spokeswoman Marie Dodds.

The Register-Guard -- The average price of a gallon of gasoline fell for the fourth week in a row in Eugene-Springfield, to $4.08 per gallon for regular, according to AAA. That’s down 8 cents from last week and only slightly higher than the statewide average of $4.06. The national average is down to $3.87.

Diesel is expensive, because people will pay for it at that price. Use this site and only buy at places with the cheapest diesel, or drive your gasoline car for a while. The price will fall, and the truckers (who usually have no choice) will thank you.

Take the gasoline articles and substitute the word diesel for gasoline.

It needs to drop a lot further. All our basic commodities come by truck and many have fuel surcharges that boost the price of everything we buy.

I totally agree. This time last year I was paying $2.30 - $2.45 during basketball season. This season, I can't imagine what the price will be.

We need it to drop a bunch! Several service business are having to charge an extra fee because they use diesel powered equipment!

We can only hope that lower diesel prices will translate into lower freighting prices. The consumer price for goods should lower a little then. It probably won't happen for a while though, the truckers took a pretty bad beating before their fuel surcharge was finally factored in.

Still don't get it. Diesel was lower in gasoline by 10 cents/liter. Then they had that fire at the Shell Scotford refinery that gave them an excuse to increase the price to 10 cents/liter MORE than gasoline. Ok, the refinery is repaired, the stockpile is replenished. How come the $ has not come down to the pre-fire cost?

It's all a bunch of speculation.

Good - keep the average price of gasoline going down another $2 a gallon, at least.
The price of fuel has been too high for way too long.
Diesel needs to go down too...

I just hope that if prices come down everyone will continue their conserving habits. That way it will help hold down prices in the long run.

Diesel here is 4.49 and gas 3.70. SOme stations near Springfield MO are at 3.35 a gallon. But I am sure we won't see that in our area any time soon. Amazing how gas goes up 10 cents at a time and comes down 3 cents.

Yes gas has been falling a few cents for several weeks, but have you noticed how fast it can go up. 10 to 15 cents over nigh..
